was customizable? I must have used a completely
different gnome..... well I can honestly say
that when I saw screenshots from gnome 3 when
it arrived, I didn't even bother and try it.
It looked like it was designed for 12 yr olds
with no experience with computers. Well, from
what I remember gnome-panel has some very nasty
(unfixable?) bugs so it's only natural they
wanna drop the turkey.
customize since it has a graphical option for
almosteverything. As for css, that's actually very easy, so I'm
not sure what you mean by it being hard.
Well, I guess no bug is unfixable, however, might
require a lot of code re-write and the code base
might be hard to maintain as is so I understand
completely if they wanna dump gnome-panel.
I'm not sure why you absolutely want gnome-panel
either, since gnome3 has something that looks just
like it.
And if CSS is so easy then why there is so little themes for Gtk3? We have few like 20? 25 good themes, and themes for 3.2 don't work with 3.4 and 3.4 don't work with 3.6 and 3.6 don't work with freakin 3.6.2 (which is just plain stupid).
And i know that some bugs can lie deep in code, but the only annoing bug in gnome-panel is lack of proper transparency, which worked in 2.x and worked in 3.2 and they broke somethin in 3.4 and didn't fixed it because they assumed that noone use gnome-panel anymore - which by the way don't act like gnome-shell panel, and you can use ubuntu applets with it.
QtCurve is a qt/gtk engine that can pretty much look
like whatever, no coding of anykind involved, nice
graphical thing so any idiot can manage. Bespin is
a experimental engine with lots of features, same
thing there... nice gui so any idiot can manage.
Oh and that gtk question is easy: because gtk/gnome
sucks
yourself there
proper transparency? argb support? ubuntu applets...
...well, now you need to say no more... ubuntu applets..
sighs.
