Elementaryish 1.1.6 Gtk3 Theme for 13.04 and 12.10 by Dolsilwa Elementaryish 1.1.6 Gtk3 Theme for 13.04 and 12.10 by Dolsilwa
::Help me improve theme::
- Umair from pointed me out that there is a bug - strange menu backgroud color like in those screenshots:…
Does everybody has this bug? i'd really would like to recreate it and fix it.

- Theme comes with two versions - with dark panels and menus (elementary-dkpanel), and with light panels and menus (elementaryish).
- Theme works with Unity and with Gnome Classic Session (gnome-fallback)
- If you have installed previous version of this theme - please delete it first, because names of themes are the same.
- Theme is based on Greybird theme and inspired by Elementary theme
- for Gnome 3.6 (versions from Ubuntu 12.10 or 13.04)
- theme was designed to use with AppMenu (Global menu), of course you can use it with standard menubar, but it looks best with Appmenu.
- I have not tested it with any other file managers, so i have no idea how it looks with Nemo, Athena, Marlin or Thunar. But it shouldn't look bad.
- There are some mac-ish looking widgets in this theme, so if you're allergic to mac os x design - please don't use it.

- for 1.1.5 theme Extract .zip archive, and copy "elementaryish" / "elementary-dkpanel" folder to your .themes folder, or to usr/share/themes/ . Then change your theme with "gnome-tweak-tool" or "Ubuntu Tweak".

- for 1.1.6 theme go to folder elementaryish 1.1.6.

- In 13.04 Gnome-panel session with Compiz some people have problems with maximized window borders (it's gtk-window-decorator bug). Emerald also has this problem but only with some themes - so i've made Emerald theme for elementaryish (and egtk) that is free of this bug, and works well with gnome-panel session

- Emerald theme is in "Emerald theme" folder

:: Beta for Gala/Mutter::

- This is 1.1.5 version but with dark color scheme and gnome3 window theme, so if you use app that uses dark color scheme you'll have nice dark windows and widgets. Here is screenshot:…

- You can find it in "Beta" folder.

- Theme looks good with every font ;-) but it looks best with elementary-style fonts:

Application font: Droid Sans, 9pt
Document font: Droid Sans, 10pt
Desktop font: Droid Sans, 9pt
Window title font: Droid Sans Bold, 9pt
Fixed width font: Droid Sans Mono, 9pt

(from elementary website)

- To DanRabbit and rest of elementary team - for great design.
- To Simon Steinbeiß and Shimmer Project team - for Greybird code which was great base for this theme.
- To Trastes - creator of Gnome Cupertino theme - i've borrowed some of his great css code.

::Extras:: ::FIREFOX::

- My persona theme for Firefox:…
- Zeeeeee's and Loklaan's full Firefox theme:… (compatibile with light elementaryish theme)

Really great theme! I used it on my old Ubuntu 13.04 without problems, but now seems to not work in the 13.10. Hope you fix it soon, I can't live without it on my laptop :D

Wow!!! Awesome work!
Since elementary Luna was released I have been looking for an equivalent theme that worked on Unity and nothing seemed to look quite right.
You must have put long hours here... and what you achieved is just terrific!!!
Thanks for sharing your hard work and the skills of a pro!

i applied your theme but when i select a folder or an archive it's still orange instead of blue. Am i doing something wrong?

Have you tried loging out and in? And if that not works, try installing it to /usr/share/themes.

Hi! Do you use IRC?  Maybe we can talk about how to make this theme better. :) (I have been using it for some time already!) Do you make everything from scratch or do you take some code from the elementary theme? If you put the following so it get loaded (I have been placing it in gtk-widgets-assets.css) pantheon-files will look better!:

* Widget States *

* {
   background-color: @bg_color;
   color: @text_color;

*:insensitive {
   color: @insensitive_color;

*:selected:focus {
   background-color: alpha (@selected_bg_color, 0.9);
   color: @selected_fg_color;
Here is how it looks with or without:

Hi there
Elementaryish theme is based on Greybird, and is designed to work with Ubuntu (and i hope Xubuntu) if you want to you can fork elementaryish and make your release tailored to your needs (and your OS) - it's open source :-)

It's not that i don't want to improve elementaryish - i would love to, but there are some issues. It's not Gnome 2 anymore, when you had one theme and it worked well on every distro, i've explained it many times (for example in Ubuntu Discourse:… ) you can't make theme to look good in Unity, and at the same time in Pantheon or Gnome-shell - they have different HIG's (or they don't have HIG's at all). Fix for pantheon-files is one of examples: if you make fixed color for foreground like in here:

* {
   background-color: @bg_color;
   color: @text_color;

you'll get dark symbolic images in pantheon-files, but at the same time hovered menu item will have black letters instead of white.  It's really hard now to make your theme compatibile with all file managers (nautilus, marlin, pantheon-files, nemo, athena) with all DE's and all the other stuff that comes with it. Today developer really has to choose his Desktop Environment, because it's impossible to make theme look good in every one of them.

Ah, I see! Right now I´m playing around with Elementaryish and Greybird to make it work with the latest gtk, and with some of the elementary apps, :) (it´s really hard for a beginner, you are doing a great work!)
